Anesthesia Associates of Willimantic (AAW) was founded in 1973 to provide anesthesia services at Windham Community Memorial Hospital in Willimantic, CT. We proudly continue to provide safe, efficient anesthesia care services with in the very same hospital, now a member of Hartford HealthCare. In 2000 the group open its first interventional pain management practice, which since has blossomed into 4 locations spread across eastern and central Connecticut. AAW set a benchmark in 2002 as an early-adopter of using propofol for GI procedures such as colonoscopies.

AAW was chosen as the anesthesia provider at River Valley Ambulatory Surgery Center in Norwich, Connecticut in 2013. The group was involved in establishing the center from the time it was under construction.

AAW Underwent a major expansion in May 2016 when we began providing anesthesia services to Eastern Connecticut Health Network. This included two hospitals, Manchester Memorial Hospital and Rockville General Hospital, and a freestanding endoscopy center, Evergreen Endoscopy Center. The expansion continued with our ground-up presence at Bloomfield Surgery Center in 2016 and by taking over the anesthesia department at North Haven Surgery Center in 2018.

AAW continues to explore opportunities for expansion, primarily in ambulatory surgery and pain management.
